Dental scaling is routinely performed to help patients with gum disease and excessive plaque buildup and tartar.

Plaque is a sticky film that constantly forms on teeth. Bacteria in plaque produce acids after you eat or drink. These acids can destroy tooth enamel and cause cavities and gingivitis (gum disease) 

Without regular cleanings, plaque may harden into tartar, or it may cause cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. Inflammation in your mouth can lead to other health problems, so it’s a good idea to stay on top of plaque with good dental habits and regular trips to the dentist.

•  Gums look red and swollen or bleed during brushing 
•  Teeth feel sensitive 

• Proper toothbrush technique
• Use the correct toothbrush bristle hardness
• Use fluoridated toothpaste
• Gargle using chlorhexidine after toothbrush
